I'm a little late--but I have finally succumbed to to the glory that is Weeds.
My friend bought the first 2 seasons on DVD, and we've become immediately obsessed with Nancy Botwin. Last night, I was at a dinner for work, and I found my dining companions to be incredibly boorish and obnoxious; I pushed back my chair before the main course was served, said I was going to the restroom, and ducked out of the restaurant and ran to my car and sped over to my friend's house to watch another episode.
It's like an addiction in itself. I can taste Nancy's pot brownies.
Some thoughts:
1) What happened to Doug Wilson's gay kid? The first episode, he's boffing the neighbor and encroaching on Nancy's business, and then he's gone. Does he come back?
2) Elizabeth Perkins as Celia Hodes = genius.
3) In episode, uh...2? 3? I forget...Silas is staring at the deaf girl who gives good head (it's a relevant detail!) as she is at her locker. And she is singing a song and dancing. SHE IS DEAF. How does she hear the music??? Was that a production error? Ha ha.
4) I haven't gotten to the Mary-Kate Olsen episodes yet, don't spoil it for me. I'm a fan of all things Olsen. It's embarrassing.
5) Andy Miller as Dean Hodes...when he gets his head shaved...and he has the red dots from his plugs...I seriously want to meet him in person and give him a hug.
And one more thing:
YOU DO NOT PUT WEED IN MY CORNBREAD.
I suggest you buy these DVDs, it's brilliant.
it is brilliant. one of my favorite shows. so sad that season 3 is over already.

2) Elizabeth Perkins as Celia Hodes = genius.

I hate to disappoint, but the gay kid never comes back. We'll just need to watch his underwear/jumping on the bed scene after each episode to satisfy the cravings.

1) sadly, doug wilson's gay son doesn't make it back. i guess it was too risque for the gay boy to be boffing the older neighbor. apparently only hbo does man-boy relationships.
2) elizabeth perkins gets worse wkich actually means she gets better. atotal bitch, but so worth aspiring to.
3) deaf people can still sense vibration, dan. i've seen deaf gay men at the clubs and they do seem to enjoy the music like everyone else. also sila's girlfriend reads lips so it's not impossible.
4) she is surprisingly very good in her character. you'll like how far she has come from full house or worse yet, that new york minute movie. not that i watched it on cable when it came on because i was curious or anything...
5) andy miller has some pretty good schtick in the series but he is still under-utilized.
anyway, enjoy the watching. you're in for some pretty good shit.

the gay kid got War of the Worlds between when the pilot was shot and the actual series pick up. He rightly chose the blockbuster. His agent woulda killed him had he not i bet.

i love this show, but unfortunatly i gave up my subscription to showtime. i miss this and the Lword. Both were weekly favorites and i loved when they would get different singers to sing the pretty box houses song at the beginning, but my favorite is the original singer for the soundtrack.

Willam is right on top of being gorgeous as a boy or a girl.
You won't get to the Mary-Kate Olsen episodes on DVD, so you only have to worry about people spoiling season three for you until next August.
What I really want to know is whatever happened to Dean Hodes's tennis racket fetish. That one was so ripe with opportunities.

I too wanted to see more of Doug Wilson's kid. Justin Chatwin was brilliant doing that character and had some of the best one-liners ("Passion of the Christ.. it's just another snuff film"). I think I read somewhere his brief role was due to schedule conflicts.. nothing more than that.

Well, and how about Celia and Dean's older daughter, who Silas was getting it on with in the first episode and she's never been seen or heard of again...

I'm Deaf (capitalized on purpose to reflect my culture) and I own an iPod nano. I bought my last car based on how good the stereo/speaker system was and whether or not it had a MP3 auxillary.
Commenter Dan above (danny/ink2metal) is right and in addition, deaf people can also hear music. In my case, I can hear a person singing and can follow the beat but I don't understand the lyrics. There are varying degrees of hearing loss.
And now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I watched 3 seasons in two days and I have a final tomorrow for which my prep is nada.I am addicted too.
I love Celia Hodes.
I love how the entire show is so politically incorrect.

A lot of these series are easier to get into watching several episodes at a time on DVD. I've started watching Heroes, Dexter, and a couple others but only after seeing the first season on DVD. I still won't watch the current shows unless they're Tivo'ed, however. And I still save up several episodes to watch at one time. I don't have the patience to wait a week for whatever comes next!!! I'm three or four weeks behind on Heroes right now and very much looking forward to a couple of hours of that. Neat blog, by the way.
